In place of the Pride parade of years past, the PHL Pride Collective has emerged promising a new, reimagined Philly Pride that centers Black and brown queer and trans communities. The Office of LGBT Affairs will host its annual flag raising at City Hall to kick off Pride month and feature speakers reflecting on this year’s theme: Celebrating our Communities. From parties and drag brunches to family-friendly events and food specials, there are plenty of ways to show your love and support for the LGBTQ+ community in Philadelphia this month. What’s more, this year marks the 50th anniversary of Philadelphia’s first Gay Pride Day in 1972. June 1st marks the beginning of Pride Month, a time to commemorate the 1969 riots at the Stonewall Inn and celebrate the Pride movement and LGBTQ+ community.
